SICT will allocate 1.227 billion pesos to repair damages to roads and bridges in Oaxaca caused by hurricane Agatha / @jorgenunol @SCT_mx >>>

#SICT.- The Government of Mexico, through the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), is rebuilding the roads and bridges affected in Oaxaca by last year’s hurricane Agatha, for which an investment of 1,227.3 million pesos will be allocated, said the head of the agency, Jorge Nuño Lara.

During the meeting «Support Plan for people affected by Hurricane Agatha in Oaxaca», headed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the head of the SICT pointed out that 1,062 damages were detected in the federal and state network as a result of the meteorological phenomenon that occurred at the end of May 2022, including landslides, mudslides and drainage collapses.

«From the first moment of its occurrence, in coordination with all government entities we carried out different actions to ensure the safety of users and restore the circulation of highways and roads in the entity with the dispatch of technical personnel, crews, machinery and vehicles to be able to restore the passage.»

Nuño Lara emphasized that in the month of July 2022 the works for immediate partial support for 360.7 million pesos were concluded, to attend to the emergency and reestablish passages in highways, roads and bridges.

Twenty-six bridges damaged by Hurricane Agatha are in the process of being rebuilt, where traffic was reestablished with provisional crossing works; 9 of these bridges are in the process of being built.
